History of the St. Louis Chapter of ARMA

The St. Louis Chapter of the ARMA International (previously known as the American Records Management Association) was founded on April 5, 1966 by Richard Wolff, CRM, Gerald F. Brown, CRM, and Gerald Hegle and became ARMA's 19th chartered chapter. A Charter banquet was held at the Missouri Athletic Club on April 5, 1966 to commemorate the event.

The first President of the Chapter was Richard E. Wolff, CRM followed in 1967-1968 by Gerald F. Brown, CRM. The first Board of Directors meeting was held on April 13, 1966 and the chapter newsletter was called "The Reporter" today known as the Information Gateway. In 1966 St. Louis was approved as the site of the 1969 ARMA Conference.

In 1991 the St. Louis Chapter, Jefferson City/Columbia Chapter, and the Kansas City Chapter organized an annual joint regional conference known as the "Heartland Seminar." This seminar is held in May of each year.
